West Ham celebrate back-to-back Premier League wins putting three past the Foxes at the King Power Stadium earlier this afternoon.
Leicester who were unbeaten going into this fixture could have gone top of the Premier League with a victory over West Ham today. After the thrilling display of putting five past Manchester City last week and having in- form Jamie Vardy who has already bagged five goals so far this season, there was a positive feel for the season ahead.
Brendon Rodgers sides performance this time out wasn’t as heart- stopping or insane as they were second best in every part of the field. With the Hammers picking where they left of against Wolves last weekend forward Michail Antonio netted in the first from Creswell’s pinpoint cross, meaning he is the first Irons player to score in five successive Premier League away games, and scoring as many goals in his last 11 Premier League games as in his previous 64.
Despite Hammers boss David Moyes again absent with illness and watching from home, he would have been feeling positive his side could hold their lead and bring the three points back home to East London.
After Creswell assisting again for the second, Pablo Fornals whose super touch allowed him to calmly slot it away meant Moyes side were 2-0 up in the later stages of the first- half. For all the possession Leicester had throughout the game they still failed to produce a shot on target, there misery heightened when Bowen scored the third deep into the second- half sealing the win and West Ham’s second of the Premier League season.
Jamie Vardy was unfortunate to be flagged offside to rule out an audacious Harvey Barnes finish late on in added- time, allowing the Hammers to a well-deserved second clean sheet in a row.
Brendon Rodgers side remain second in the league, although they could lose that spot if Liverpool were to draw or beat Aston Villa tonight. The Hammers however move up to a promising 10th position which saw assistant boss Alan Irvine suggest ‘This club needs to be looking up rather than down’.
West Ham go into their next fixture full of positivity as it was the first time since 2017 that they have beaten a top two side. Next to challenge the Irons will be London rivals Tottenham who put six past Manchester United this evening in what equaled United’s worst ever home performance.
