Jose Mourinho prefigured his first Tottenham anniversary admiring his players objectivity over the last 12 months sharing they mean everything to him

Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho as been in charge for Tottenham Hotspur for a year now, he joined the North London side this time last year after the ‘emotional ‘sacking of Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs were 14th in the premier league and slacking in all areas of the pitch when Mourinho was appointed manager, since then the ‘special one’ has seemed to find a key identity in this squad, seeing them move up to sixth position and gaining a spot in the Europa League respectably at the end of last season.

Many questioned his reputation when his managerial career took a twist at premier league giants Manchester United. However, this isn’t the case at the Tottenham camp, with players finding him friendly and engaging, his manner and desire has taken members of the squad by surprise.

Going into the 2020/21 season fresh and getting rid of the dead-wood, Mourinho has proven his attention to detail and dedication to tactical discipline in all areas.

His side sit top of their Europa League group and at the summit of the premier league after beating bitter rival Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City side 2-0 last Saturday.

High-prolific additions of Welshman Gareth Bale and Dutchman Steven Bergwijn, have added promising depth to Jose’s side.

Meanwhile, the Spurs boss is seeming to re-energize the best out of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, the pair alone have managed a combination of 16 goals and 11 assists.

On reflection of his year in charge, Mourinho said, “Of course I’ve had difficult moments, it was a year unexpected, nobody could believe what was going to happen the day I came to the club.

“I am happy, I’m very happy in the club, I’m very happy with the decision I made.”

Tottenham currently sit top and are riding the wave for now. Although, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Leicester still to face at the end of the year, we may find out soon if they can maintain their form.

On his team, Mourinho added, “They mean everything, they are very objective.”
