Solihull Moors Vanarama National League clash with Barnet last night was suspended due to heavy deluges of rain throughout the afternoon. Despite all the efforts shown by the ground staff and ball sanitizers, it wasn’t meant to be.

With the Moors on a run of three successive home wins and yet to taste defeat under the return of manager Mark Yates, yesterday’s game would have been the perfect way to welcome the return of 600 home spectators at Damson Park, for the first time since March 2020.

Solihull midfielder James Ball reacted to the postponement, he said: “Yesterday I couldn’t wait personally to get out there and the other lads were really looking forward to it. It’s just such a shame that the weather prevented it.”

The games are coming thick and fast for the Warwickshire side as they enter the final stretch of the 2020/21 season, in response both Solihull and Barnet have agreed to reschedule the fixture for tomorrow evening, with a kick-off time of 6pm.

Unfortunately for fans, the game will be played behind-closed -doors with only specific press access allowed due to contingency plans.

Moor’s manager Mark Yates said, “I’m really disappointed for them, it was great to see them even for that hour when they were sat patiently. The lads are desperate to play in front of fans, but we had no other alternative.”

Supporters who had purchased a ticket for yesterday’s game, will have priority for the final day fixture at home against Eastleigh on the 29th May, 12:30pm kick-off.
