After months of lockdown it has led to many uncertainties on our mental well-being. With mental health on the rise from the pandemic it has resulted in devastating times for friends and families. The goal to raise awareness requires support to allow people living with mental illness the chance to live their life’s with dignity.
Aston Villa star Tyrone Mings is certainly a key figure for some when it comes to opening up about mental struggles, which he faced earlier on in his career as a player. Footballing reporter Michelle Owen described him as ‘inspiring’ to others in the way he opened up so ‘eloquently’ when interviewed- Its important role models keep talking and showing support such as Mings as the impact it has on others is truly remarkable.
The 27-year-old retweeted and shared stories of people who were brave enough to openly talk about what they had been through and their road to recovery, proving to many that you’re not alone, even when having your darkest days there will be people that care about you.
Aston Villa fans across the world took to twitter to praise the defender on his awareness, many stating how proud they were to have him representing their club. It’s been a difficult 6-7 months without the fans at Villa Park some who were employed by the club and other aspects of life it included. Football itself creates passion, emotion and excitement for communities. Having fans back automatically creates a range of economic benefits.
Fans have taken the time to sign a petition created by Ashley Greenwood on allowing fans to attend matches at all levels, with there already 194,000 signatures parliament will consider this for a debate followed by a response from the government whether to go ahead with this plan.
As the inspiration of Tyrone Mings continues to succeed and be applauded by many, he for now has at least managed to make himself a key ambassador and professional towards the subject.
